About Holstein International

HISTORY

Jan Bierma and Han Hopman founded Holstein International in 1994. There was lots of demand for an international magazine for the dairy breeding industry featuring relevant information and professional photos, and the expertise and ambitions of the two founders made for a perfect match.

Since 1994 Holstein International has expanded from 4 employees, 3 languages, and about 1,000 subscribers to 18 employees, 7 freelance workers, 6 languages, and more than 33,000 readers. The entire production process (except for printing and distribution) is carried out from the head office at Stiens, in the Dutch province of Friesland.

Mission

Supplying unbiased information – worldwide accessible – to our readers, to enable them to improve their knowledge and the quality of their work within the Holstein industry.

LONG-TIME SUBSCRIBERS

“ My two sons asked “What do you want for your birthday?” I replied “ A subscription to Holstein International”. They followed through and I received my first issue, August 2015.  I really enjoy the articles in Holstein International. They seem to go much further into the details of a good bull or a cow family than most dairy magazines take the time and space for.”

'I have subscribed to HI for quite a number of years and always enjoy receiving a new copy. Jan Bierma’s editorials always make sense, the breeder profiles are a great entertainment and the sires of interest section is very up-to-date. Thanks HI and keep up the good work.'
